Exterior color makes the XC90 look sleeker and lower to the ground. Design elements include body-color front and rear bumpers new, sill and wheel arch moldings. This increases the visual appeal of the new standard LED daytime running lights and rear lights that look elegant. XC90 3.2 also receives a new front bumper silver bar, chrome taillight trim, silk matte exterior mirrors, air intake decor trim and 18-inch “Thalia” wheels. There is also the option of a new color that is Twilight Bronze Metallic and Red Metallic Flaminco.
New 19-inch “Ixion” alloy wheels strengthen its sporting appeal. R-Design continues to feature a sport-tuned suspension and steering for improved driving characteristics, plus the R-Design grille unique, leather seating surfaces with embossed R-Design logo on the front seat, an R-Design steering wheel, watch dial instruments and floor mats .
A sophisticated 3.2-liter XC90 in-line six-cylinder engine is a naturally aspirated powerplant that delivers 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. This is thanks to the performance and economics for Variable Cam Timing (VCT) and Cam Profile Switching (CPS). With CPS, the intake valves can be lifted to the desired height depending on engine revs and load – a lower lift for economical driving and a higher one for more power.
A six-speed “Geartronic” automatic transmission standard. All-wheel drive with Instant Traction is optional on all XC90s. The system employs computer-controlled traction increases Haldex AWD that can deliver up to 50 percent more torque to the rear wheels if desired, such as during takeoff.
